U.S. Army; 1st Infantry Division (1stID); 16th Infantry Regiment is a Living History/Reenactment group who’s purpose is to learn about the life and times of the World War II American “G.I.”. We are interested in preserving the history of this period by learning about World War II military history from the perspective of the combat soldier. We portray a unit of the U.S. Army; 1stInfantry Division; 16th Infantry Regiment; 2nd Battalion. We recreate the life and times of the American “G.I.” through the use of period uniforms, weapons and equipment in their intended roles. We do this by participating in field reenactments, public displays, historical preservation and veteran functions. Our goal is to authentically recreate the environment and events that produced the honor and acts of bravery displayed by this unit during the Second World War.
Members of the 1stID participate in reenactments held by W.W.II reenactment groups throughout the State of California and the Western US. We participate in CHG, RPS, and other Northern California events. These organizations are Department of Defense recognized California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporations and part of the W.W.II Commemorative Community.
We have members that have been active in the support and restoration of the Barracks and Mess Hall at Ft. Cronkhite, the 6” Gun at the Presideo of San Francisco, Eagle Field Airport, have volunteers at the California Military Museum in Old Town Sacramento, and participate in numerous City and State Veteran’s events and parades.
If you are interested inreenacting in a tough WWII G.I. fighting outfit and want to participate in preserving this period in history we are the unit for you. For more information about our unit email to the unit leader .
